- Monday 26 December – Additional public holiday for Christmas Day
- Tuesday 27 December – Substitute day for Boxing Day
- Saturday 31 December – New Year’s Eve (from 7pm to 12 midnight)
- Sunday 1 January – New Year’s Day
- Monday 2 January – Additional public holiday for New Year’s Day
- Saturday 24 December – Christmas Eve (from 6pm to 12 midnight)
- Sunday 25 December – Christmas Day
- Monday 26 December – Boxing Day
- Tuesday 27 December – Additional public holiday for Christmas Day

If you need an employee to work on any of the public holidays mentioned above, you need to pay the appropriate penalty rates.
Permanent employees get paid for a public holiday if it’s a day they would normally work. If a public holiday falls on a day an employee wouldn’t normally work, they don’t get paid for the public holiday.
For example:
If a part time employee only works on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, they wouldn’t get paid any public holidays in December 2022/January 2023.
An employee that works Monday to Friday doesn’t get paid the public holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday
A casual employee isn’t entitled to be paid for a public holiday if they don’t work, but will most likely be entitled to penalty rates if they are required to work on a public holiday.
